Refurbished Nokia Networks AirScale hardware supply
The Nokia AirScale is a multi-generation radio access platform providing mobile connectivity and capacity from 2G through 5G across all frequency bands and deployment scenarios. The portfolio encompasses baseband units, remote radio heads, massive MIMO antennas, and small cell solutions, all built on Nokia’s Single RAN architecture for unified multi-technology operation. AirScale is deployed by mobile operators worldwide for macro coverage, indoor enterprise connectivity, and dense urban capacity, with a focus on energy efficiency and modular scalability.
All-band, all-technology radio access
AirScale supports GSM, WCDMA, TDD-LTE, FDD-LTE, LTE-A Pro, and 5G NR (NSA and SA) on a single hardware platform through Nokia’s Single RAN architecture. The radio portfolio covers low-band (700/800/850 MHz), mid-band (3.5 GHz), and millimetre wave (24/26/28/39 GHz) spectrum with configurations from 2T2R to 8T8R, plus massive MIMO options including the Habrok 64 (64TRX, approximately 24 kg – 30% lighter than its predecessor) and Osprey 32/64TRX dual-band products. Single RAN allows one base station to run multiple technologies concurrently with remote activation, reducing site complexity and enabling spectrum refarming.
ReefShark SoC architecture and energy efficiency
AirScale baseband and radio products are powered by Nokia’s ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, developed in collaboration with Broadcom. The latest ReefShark plug-in cards deliver 8x more throughput and serve 8x more cells than previous generations, with power consumption reduced by up to 75%. The latest capacity cards double the cells supported while reducing energy consumption by up to 80%, and control cards use up to 90% less energy while doubling throughput. An extreme deep sleep mode reduces energy by up to 97% when cells carry no traffic, and site-level solutions achieve up to 30% total energy reduction with rectifier efficiency of 97%.
Modular deployment from macro to indoor
The AirScale baseband uses a modular System Module with scalable Plug-in Units (PiUs) – from a minimum of one Common PiU plus one Capacity PiU up to two Common plus six Capacity PiUs – delivering up to 84 Gbps throughput and support for 90,000 simultaneous users. Outdoor baseband units (Tuuli series) support 2G through 5G at a single site with up to 70% energy savings over legacy equipment. For indoor coverage, the AirScale Indoor Radio (ASiR) system uses Cat 6a cabling with Power over Ethernet to connect pico radio heads, eliminating the need for dedicated power supplies and supporting enterprise buildings, hospitals, hotels, and transportation hubs.
Nokia Networks AirScale repair services
DTC provides specialist repair and lifecycle support for Nokia AirScale platforms, focused on restoring complex radio access hardware to a fully serviceable state rather than offering best-effort fixes. Repairs are driven by detailed platform knowledge and structured fault isolation, covering System Module baseband units, Common and Capacity Plug-in Units (PiUs), remote radio heads, and associated RF and power components.
Each repair is completed with defined test and verification processes aligned to AirScale operating requirements, ensuring repaired units can be reintroduced into live mobile networks with confidence. This emphasis on validation, repeatability, and long-term sustainment allows operators to extend the operational life of deployed AirScale systems while controlling cost and risk.
DTC also provides hands-on technical support and break/fix services for the Nokia AirScale, helping resolve faults quickly and keep your network operational without reliance on OEM maintenance contracts.

Warranty and risk mitigation – why source outside the OEM?
Warranty, quality, and risk mitigation
DTC supplies fully warrantied platforms and parts across all network layers, supported by defined SLAs and quality-controlled repair services. All recovered equipment is inspected, tested, and audited at platform, part number, serial number, and software revision level. These processes are governed by ISO 9001-certified quality management systems, ensuring consistent performance, traceability, and reduced operational risk.
End-to-end audit trails are maintained from collection through resale, repair, or recycling, with transparent inventory visibility and regular reporting. This ensures customers retain full control, compliance, and confidence in the condition and provenance of every asset.
Why source outside the OEM?
Sourcing through DTC provides a cost-efficient alternative to OEM supply chains while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability. Independent sourcing enables faster access to spares through in-house, multi-vendor inventory and continued support for legacy and end-of-life platforms no longer available from manufacturers.
Vendor-agnostic sourcing also simplifies procurement across mixed-vendor networks, while reuse and refurbishment support sustainability goals by extending asset life and reducing the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new equipment.
