Refurbished Alcatel-Lucent 1600 Series hardware supply
The Alcatel-Lucent 1600 Series is a comprehensive family of optical multi-service provisioning platforms spanning compact access multiplexers through to high-capacity core transport systems. The family includes models such as the 1640 FOX, 1650 SMC, 1660 SM, 1662 SM, 1664 SM, 1670 SM, 1678 MCC, 1620 LM/SLTE, 1626 LM, and 1696 MS, each targeting a specific layer of the transport network. Deployed extensively across metro, regional, core, and submarine networks, the 1600 Series provides a unified platform for converging TDM, packet, and wavelength services under a single management framework.
Scalable optical transport from access to core
The 1600 Series covers an exceptionally broad capacity range. At the access layer, the 1650 SMC provides STM-1/4 multiplexing with a 32 x 32 non-blocking cross-connect, while the 1660 SM delivers STM-64 transport with 60 Gbps higher-order and 40 Gbps lower-order cross-connect capacity across up to four STM-64 interfaces. At the core, the 1678 MCC scales to 640 Gbps per shelf and up to 5 Tbps with its 16-slot architecture. For submarine applications, the 1620 SLTE supports up to 240 Tbps across multiple fibre pairs with transmission distances reaching 14,000 km, while the 1626 LM provides multi-reach DWDM with up to 96 channels at 10 Gbps.
Multi-service convergence across TDM, packet, and storage
Across the family, the 1600 Series integrates SDH, PDH, Ethernet, ATM, MPLS, and storage protocol support on common hardware. The 1660 SM and 1664 SM provide Layer 2 switching with Fibre Channel, FICON, and ESCON storage interfaces alongside Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet. The 1678 MCC consolidates SDH/SONET, MPLS, OTN, and GMPLS in a single system with full mesh restoration capabilities. This multi-service architecture allows operators to run legacy TDM traffic alongside modern packet and storage services without requiring separate overlay networks.
Carrier-grade protection and centralised management
The 1600 Series supports multiple protection schemes including SNCP, 1+1 MSP, ring protection, and GMPLS-based mesh restoration, with redundant power supplies and processor units across the range. The 1626 LM adds tunable and reconfigurable ROADM functionality for dynamic wavelength flexibility in DWDM applications. All platforms in the family are managed through the Alcatel-Lucent 1350 Optical Management System (OMS), providing centralised SNMP, CLI, and GUI-based provisioning, performance monitoring, and firmware management across the entire transport network.
Alcatel-Lucent 1600 Series repair services
DTC provides specialist repair and lifecycle support for Alcatel-Lucent 1600 Series platforms, focused on restoring complex optical transport hardware to a fully serviceable state rather than offering best-effort fixes. Repairs are driven by detailed platform knowledge and structured fault isolation across the full 1600 family, including the 1650 SMC, 1660 SM, 1662 SM, 1664 SM, 1670 SM, 1678 MCC, and associated line cards and interface modules.
Each repair is completed with defined test and verification processes aligned to 1600 Series operating requirements, ensuring repaired units can be reintroduced into live multi-service transport networks with confidence. This emphasis on validation, repeatability, and long-term sustainment allows operators to extend the operational life of deployed 1600 Series systems while controlling cost and risk.
DTC also provides hands-on technical support and break/fix services for the Alcatel-Lucent 1600 Series, helping resolve faults quickly and keep your network operational without reliance on OEM maintenance contracts.

Warranty and risk mitigation – why source outside the OEM?
Warranty, quality, and risk mitigation
DTC supplies fully warrantied platforms and parts across all network layers, supported by defined SLAs and quality-controlled repair services. All recovered equipment is inspected, tested, and audited at platform, part number, serial number, and software revision level. These processes are governed by ISO 9001-certified quality management systems, ensuring consistent performance, traceability, and reduced operational risk.
End-to-end audit trails are maintained from collection through resale, repair, or recycling, with transparent inventory visibility and regular reporting. This ensures customers retain full control, compliance, and confidence in the condition and provenance of every asset.
Why source outside the OEM?
Sourcing through DTC provides a cost-efficient alternative to OEM supply chains while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability. Independent sourcing enables faster access to spares through in-house, multi-vendor inventory and continued support for legacy and end-of-life platforms no longer available from manufacturers.
Vendor-agnostic sourcing also simplifies procurement across mixed-vendor networks, while reuse and refurbishment support sustainability goals by extending asset life and reducing the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new equipment.
